HOYA IMPERIALIS
Hoya imperialis will produce some of the largest individual flowers of the Hoya group. It gets spectacular pink flowers with white corona when mature. Sometimes the corona is pink as well. I would not say H. imperialis is an early bloomer, but you will feel very rewarded when you see the flowers. Once it is mature to bloom, it is a good bloomer. The flowers also smell amazing in the evening. This is a large vine compared with other Hoyas. The leaves are green with wavy edges and get about 4" long by 2" wide. It can be grown like many others hoyas in hanging baskets, but I prefer growing large Hoyas in a clay pot with a trellis. Since Hoyas are likely to bloom earlier and more often in smaller pots, don't use a pot that is too big. Smaller pots will also dry out faster which is very important for Hoyas. This hoya needs to be very well protected in the winter time. I keep mine above 60F.
