ERYTHRINA
VARIEGATA 'ORIENTALIS'
Sunshine Tree
The Sunshine Tree
has one of the most beautiful foliage of all the tropical trees. In tropical
locations they can easily reach 30'-40' in height. It does need full sun,
a good amount of water during the summer and a little drier during the winter
when it goes dormant and will shed most of its leaves. In the spring, bright
scarlet flowers emerge first followed by the beautiful foliage. Unfortunately
perhaps due to its variegation, this
Erythrina is not a prolific bloomer like the green forms. The Sunshine Tree
is a tropical tree but it can withstand temperatures in the high 20's for
short periods of time.
