EUCROSIA
BICOLOR
Peruvian Lily
Eucrosias are tropical bulbs that are very easy to grow
and bloom. They go dormant in the winter. When dormant,
keep
the soil slightly moist and the pot in a shady location.
Some leaves may remain on the plant. Don't fertilize
the plant
when dormant. By mid spring the bulbs should begin to
waken. The leaves and flowers will come up at the same
time.
At this time you can increase the amount of light to
anywhere between filtered light to partial sun. Also
increase the
water and fertilize the plant. If you wish to split
the plant, the best time to do it is in February/March.
Even without
flowers, Eucrosias have beautiful foliage. Even though
they may survive temperatures on the mid 20's, it is
best to
avoid temperatures below freezing.
